5 Cleaning Tips You Won’t Believe
Posted on 27th January 2015 by Keith Hirst
For most people, cleaning can be a bit of a dull chore, this is even more true when it comes to your office or commercial space; there definitely won’t be people queuing up to volunteer for any tidying or cleaning. But cleaning doesn’t have to be dull or mundane, there are some cleaning tips and tricks which can be used to make certain tasks that little bit more entertaining and unorthodox.
We’ve collected some of the best tips for cleaning which you won’t believe – but which could be handy for cleaning in your office.
Use A Pillowcase
You might be wondering what use a pillow case is when it comes to cleaning, but if you have ceiling fans or any other ceiling mounted apparatus then you’ll know how dusty it can get up there. You don’t want to simply brush the dust off your ceiling fan for it to fall across the office floor, so insert the part of the fan you want to clean into a pillowcase and pull it off. In one easy action you’ll have cleaned the fan and trapped the dust in the pillowcase. Be sure to turn off your lights or fan first to avoid injuries or burns.
Wet A Rubber Glove
If you work in an environment where a lot of hair or fluff accumulates – particularly if you have animals around – you’ll no doubt have battled to try and remove all of the offending hair. A simple trick to take care of this is to wet a rubber glove and then wipe any surface to pull away hair and fluff. You’ll find the hair will stick to the glove instead of billowing around the room, making it an effortless process – simply rinse and repeat as needed.
Employ White Vinegar
If your offices or commercial premises are based in an area with hard water then the build up of scum around your taps, shower heads and any other water heavy area will be a familiar enemy. To remove this blight from your metal surfaces and bring back their shine you can use white vinegar and any of the muck left by your water will soon be shifted. Try diluted amounts to see what works best for you.
Destink Your Dishwasher
Many offices now have dishwashers to help combat the endless arguments about washing of mugs, glasses, plates and bowls which are used communally. A dishwasher makes everyone’s life easier but only until it begins to smell and become clogged with foodstuffs. At this point no one wants to take responsibility for cleaning the dishwasher and people actively avoid using it. By using a combination of vinegar and baking soda in your dishwasher (use the main function but leave it empty) you can easily clean your dishwasher and remove any offensive odours it may have been creating.
Squeegee The Carpets
Vacuuming your carpets is always good but it won’t remove all the fluff from the fibres if your vacuum lacks suction. To get your carpets looking pristine you should use a rubber squeegee and run it along your carpet, this will drag up the fluff which vacuuming misses, sharpening up the look of your office or commercial space.
